PDGA Amateur World Doubles

2008 PDGA World Doubles
April 12-13 at Circle R Ranch Wimberley, Texas

Annual showdown between the world's top Amateur doubles teams Each year the sport's up-and-coming Amateurs choose a partner and battle for the World Doubles Champion title. The tournament features two days of play on Circle R's two courses, and multiple formats of doubles play. All players must be current PDGA members with Amateur classification.

FORMAT:
Everyone will play a round of Best Shot, one round of Best Disc, and one round of Alternating Shot. Teams that make the finals will play Best Shot, Best Disc, and Worst Shot.

Best Shot, also known as "Scramble," is the most common format for doubles in disc golf. Players always throw from the same lie, picking the shot they prefer each time. Best Disc, also known as "Best Score," is similar to singles. Both players play their own disc and take the better score on each hole. In Alternating Shot, players take turns throwing throughout the course. If one player makes the putt, the other player drives on the next hole. In Worst Shot, players always throw from the same lie and take the worse shot every time. Both players must make their putts. Your division will determine which course you'll use for each format.

Divisions Offered:
Advanced, Advanced Women, Advanced Master, Advanced Grand Master, and Intermediate.

OPTIONAL REGISTRATION FEES:
- None.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
- The Registration Fee will be $160 per team until March 12th, $170 after.

Disc Golf (also known as "Frisbee Golf" and "Folf" or "Frolf" and even "Disk Golf") is played much like traditional golf. Players use flying discs (golf discs or Frisbees®) and play holes that start with a tee area and end with a Disc Golf Basket or Target. The object: complete the hole by putting your golf disc in the basket in the fewest number of throws. The sport was formalized in the 1970s and is governed by the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA). There are more than 1,750 disc golf courses worldwide, with over 1,400 in the USA.
